Coffee with a Cause
One of our dearest partner organizations, She Brews, has expanded to Tulsa! Under the direction of our Women in Transition Program Director, Rhonda Bear, She Brews has been providing employment and job training (and awesome coffee) in the Claremore area for 8 years. Now, they've set up shop in the Fair Fellow location at 1 N Louis Avenue!
Housing + Employment + Stand in the Gap
Rhonda started She Brews to provide job training to the ex-offenders living in her His House transitional homes after incarceration. She Brews employees form bonds with their customers, gain valuable skills, and move on to other employment.
Many of the She Brews baristas are supported by Stand in the Gap families in Claremore. His House will also expand into a transitional home in the neighborhood, opening the door to countless SITG small group meetings around the tables at the coffee shop!
The Fair Fellow purchase included a commercial bean roasting and sales business. This additional capacity and expertise means additional career path opportunities for women transitioning out of incarceration or other difficult life circumstances.
Eight years in Claremore have proven the success of the She Brews model. Countless women have been reunited with their children, received job and life skill training, built healthy relationships with Stand in the Gap small groups, and found new life for themselves. We look forward to the next chapter in Tulsa!
