What strange times we are living in.
It’s an interesting time to be alive, huh? For many of us, “social isolation” is a little inconvenient, maybe a little boring, but ultimately, just fine.
But for some of us, “social isolation” is a trigger for crippling fear, for addiction, for painful memories, or worse. If your home is not a safe place to be, please contact us at social@sitgm.org. We will put you in touch with organizations that are equipped to help.
If you fall somewhere in the middle, battling uncertainty and fear, but otherwise safe, know that we are right there beside you, holding on to this verse…
“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” — Zephaniah 3:17
For those of you in active Stand in the Gap small groups through any of our programs, face-to-face visits should be suspended until at least May 15. But please stay in touch with each other through group texts, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, phone calls, or whatever method works best for your small group.
Neighbors, check on your team members. Team members, check on your neighbors. This is uncharted territory for all of us!
From Rhonda and the Women in Transition team, “Pray for each other, our families, our communities, our churches, our state, our nation, Italy, Korea, China, Iran, and all of our leaders.”
From Becky and the Life Launch team, “Keep up your social connections while quarantined! We don’t want our young adults to feel totally cut off.”
From Karen on our administrative team, “I keep coming back to I Timothy 2:1-2 where Timothy tells us to pray for those in authority over us. I believe that’s an important part of getting through this time.”
From our Executive Director, Francois, “This provides us with a unique opportunity to be ‘salt and light’. Relational equity will be vital during these times. This is a season for us to adapt and thrive and I am confident that we will do that.”
We are still recruiting volunteers for our small groups.
New volunteer training will take place virtually through video material and conference calls. What better way to spend any newfound “free time” you may have?!
Take the first step to volunteer by checking out our program pages.
Wishing you peace, health, and hope,
the Stand in the Gap team
